Olduvai is located on the South of the Serengeti National Park. It's a tented camp and it's personnaly my favorite place to sleep in Northern Tanzania. It's simply unique. Wlaking with Masai people and talking to them while walking to watch the sunset is a unique experience. Olduvai is named so because of Olduvai Gorge, where Lucie, the first human being has been found. Mankind arose when the monkeys from the forests west from the great lakes (Victoria and Tanganyika) crosses the rift and find themselves in the savana. They had then to stand up as there were not enough trees there. God was around, and he's still there, I swear it's a good place to meet him. The outside shower is a fun time, the bar guarded by the Masai and the tents themselves are gorgeous places.

During the rain season (nov-dec and big rain season march-may), the surrounding of the camp turns green and colored by flowers. Thousands of gnus, zebras, lions, cheetas and all their friends come to enjoy the grass there, at one end of the great migration. When we where there, at the end of the dry season (middle of october), there was no grass, no gnus, no zebras, but a gry land, all the animals being in the North of the Serengeti, or even more in the North, in the Kenyan Masai Mara.
