If you close your eyes and you imagine the savana, with the gnus running, pursued by lions, the zebras eaten by a bunch of hyenas, you're probably trying to imagine the Serengeti National Park : the land of the great migration. 2 millions of gnus, followed by thousands of zebras traverse these lands from North to South, South to North, a clockwork migration. Here, it seems like everybody eat gnus : gnus are the bred of the Serengeti. So what's the gnus'tactics ? Number ! Many will die, but they are more than many. And I can tell you, there's food for a lot of well teethed fellows...
We slept two nights in Lobo lodge, in the North of the Serengeti. It takes almost a full day of driving to go from Olduvai to Lobo (of course it's safari road, with always plenty to look at, and you can always get tan when not ;) ). Then we took one day to go almost to the Masai Mara (in Kenya), you can see the pictures of the tanzanian border with Kenya (picture with the gnu and elephant heads, with two girls dancing in the middle). There we saw the beginning og the great Migration : as we where at the very begninning of the rain season. It was amazing : thousands of gnus walking in line, south. Incredible instinct. Go South ! they seem to hear, followed by the hyenas waiting to finish the weakests.
