Delos is the birth island ot Apollo and his sister Arthemis, son and daughter of Zeus.
Delos remained a very long time a very specific place. In the first time this small island of the Aegean see was full of temple and very sacred place. It was so sacred it was forbidden to giv birth or die on the island. Pilgrims came from Egypt, Northern countries, All Greece to offer sacrifices to Apollo and other Gods. It was so sacred that city or countries let their treasure in small temple on this island because they were sure it wouldn't be stolen.

After the conquest of the Greek empire by the romans, the romans decided to let this place a place where the roman law would not exactly apply, so it became a kind of Monaco or Switzerland : trading and banking place.After it was conquisted by the Persians, it was abandonned. As it is a very very small island it remained like this with no one living on the islands for more than a thousand years.
